MakeUp Tips for High School Senior Pictures

Face, eyes, lips, cheeks. Keep them bright and natural with makeup that enhances instead of hides.

Getting ready for Senior photos can be overwhelming, but we want you to look and feel your best, and that means taking the stress and guessing out of prep.

We love an enhanced natural look (and plenty of drama when appropriate). If you choose not to use a professional makeup artist, here are a few tips to get you on the right path to the perfect look.

Make sure you are well rested and your skin is hydrated. Drink a large glass of water the night before your photo shoot. Start with a good quality, even foundation that does not contain SPF. SPF is great to protect your face, but tends to have a shine that doesn’t photograph well. Choose a matte foundation for photos.

Avoid glittery powders including eyeshadow and highlighter. The glittery sparkle, when frozen in a still photo, comes out as white dots that can almost resemble small blemishes. We love a shiny eyeshadow, but consider skipping the cheek highlighter, since it can make you look oily with photography lights.

Always use fresh mascara that does not contain clumps and separate your lashes. Eye shadow is personal preference but should match the style of your outfit. Whether you are going neautral or dramatic, keep your outfit and location in mind. Remember, details count!

Have a blemish? Don’t worry about it, we’ll take care of it in retouching. Don’t try to hide it with heavy make-up, you’ll only make the retouching harder. Just apply make-up normally and you’ll never know it was there in your photos. At S.E.Fulmer Photography, all retouching is personalized so you receive the perfect amount.

Bonus!

DON’T FORGET YOUR NAILS! Make sure they look good, with no chips. Skip the cute designs and avoid neon colors (it takes attention away from you). Consider a softer or more natural look that will go with any outfit. Keep this in mind for your toes as well. You never know when we’ll toss the shoes.
